Airplane of the Month • February 2005 |
Photo by Marty Stead Year: 1972 Model: 150L Serial#: 15073175 Stacey Clark's "Patriotic Eagle" 1972 150L Stacey purchased this eye catching Cessna 150 in March of 2004 to encourage himself to complete his flight training, which was suffering as a result of less inspiring rental planes he had previously been flying. The "Fly Like an Eagle" patriotic paint scheme was chosen by the airplane's previous owner, and applied at it's former home in Canton, Illinois.
In Stacey's words "Though I have just 24 hours of solo time and 10 hours of instruction in the airplane, I had no idea at the time of purchase how profound an impact owning the airplane would have on my life!"
N5275Q was used as a training aircraft in the 1970's and entered private ownership in the early 1980's. As of January 2005 it had just over 5,570 hours total time with 1,753 hours on the engine; compressions are still good in spite of the engine's approaching TBO, last measurements were 77, 77, 76, 76. Stacey keeps the airplane hangered at Huron County Airport in Norwalk, Ohio.
Marty Stead took the excellent aerial photos from his pristine Cessna 170 over Wellington, Ohio in July of 2004.
